BALTIMORE - A Baltimore City police officer hit and killed a pedestrian Saturday morning while responding to shooting in south east Baltimore.

Police said the officer was responding to a shooting around 1:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Jack Street with sirens and lights flashing, when the cruiser struck a man in the 900 block of E. Patapsco Street. The unidentified man was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries.

The Baltimore City Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. The names of the victim and the officer involved have not been released.
