BALTIMORE - Day 4 of the build found the 'Extreme Makeover' team scrambling to make up for lost time because of severe weather that hit the Baltimore area Monday night.
"I think we're going to catch up. It's going to be tight, we're going to be jumping all over each. But I think we're going to get rolling and get this thing buttoned up by Thursday," said project manager Chris Rachuba.
A line of severe storms on Monday soaked the crew and blew tarps off the unfinished roof, leaving puddles of water inside the house. A disaster restoration team arrived at the scene to inspect the damage and make sure there wouldn't be any problems with the drywall or insulation.
But on an overcast, wet morning there was a silver lining. The College of Notre Dame and Loyola University donated a total of 15 scholarships to Boys Hope Girls Hope. And the giving didn't stop there.
"What we're doing is wrapping our arms around those moms and making sure they get academic counseling, career counseling. So they're not just watching their children move forward in life, but they are going to move forward with them," said Rick Staisloff of the College of Notre Dame.
