Baltimore City lawmakers are expected to take up a bill today that would pave the way for renovations to city schools.

The $1.1 billion block grant would give the schools the funds to rebuild some of the city's oldest buildings.

Parents, teachers and students rallied at the state house last week urging lawmakers to approve the grant.
