BALTIMORE, MARYLAND - Kids from Waverly to West Baltimore will now get the chance to play at the site of the old Memorial Stadium.
A ribbon cutting was held today for the new Cal Ripken Senior Youth Development Field at the Weinberg Y on 33rd Street in Waverly.
Back in June, Cal and Bill Ripken along with Brooks Robinson and Governor Martin O'Malley broke ground on the new field.
The home plate is in the same spot as when Cal Ripken, Junior touched it after a hand shake with his dad as he stepped on the dish after his home run.
