BALTIMORE -

An empty retail space at Baltimore's Inner Harbor is getting a new tenant.

Discount retailer Marshalls now plans to open a store early next year in the former Filene's Basement space.

Filene's filed for bankruptcy last year and closed its stores.

The store at the Inner Harbor closed in January.

Marshalls has now signed a lease for the space.

It's a national chain known for selling brand-name clothing at discount prices.

It will occupy the second floor of the 90,000-square-foot Lockwood Place that also houses restaurants.

Best Buy also recently closed a store at the complex.

Developer David Brown says he expects Marshalls to become a destination that attracts office workers and downtown residents.
