ANNAPOLIS - A recent court ruling in Maryland named pit bulls as dangerous dogs making landlords and other people liable for any injury by a pit bull on their property and Tuesday pit bull owners are sounding off.
At 10 Tuesday morning in Annapolis a task force will meet for the first time to study the case targeting pit bulls.
Many animal advocate groups will be there as well voicing their concern. A Maryland Appellate court decision in April named pit bulls as dangerous dogs .
This makes landlords and other people liable for any injury by a pit bull on their property.
Animal lovers and those who advocate pit bull bans plan to attend the hearing in Annapolis.
A big question the task force will face is how do you tell if a dog is really part pit bull?
Who will this affect?
Paul Miller, Washington County Animal Sheltersays it will impact veterinarians and boarding kennels and pet sitters and trainers and humane societies and the list and the list goes on and on and on landlords and tenants.
At least one group supports the ruling. Www.dogbite.org filed a brief advocating stricter anti-pit bull laws.
They say that the breed is not only dangerous but that TV programs make pit bulls easily identifiable.
