BALTIMORE, Md. - Today's rain kept the participants off the field, but it didn't dampen their enthusiasm as Baltimore City unveiled its newest full size football field, in the heart of East Baltimore.

"It's bigger.  We can play more games.  We can run our spread offense."

The debut of the city springs field comes about by way of a public-private partnership between the city, living classrooms, the NFL, and the Baltimore Ravens.

"To have an official length football field that is as beautiful as this one is, I think will motivate the kids a lot."

The collaboration developed here will offer not only a safe recreational space for local kids but also health and wellness programs.

"Living Classrooms felt committed to doing what we could to bring a resource because children in this city need health and wellness programs.  They need to get outside."

They've all come together to offer the kids of East Baltimore a chance to become healthier and more well-rounded.

"We live in a city where tremendous amounts of people need to know that tomorrow can be different from today.  You are signs of hope.  With your education you will become agents of hope."

Ravens players and former Baltimore Colt greats emphasized the need.

"We also owe it to them."

With a new field and a new attitude, the rain wouldn't be holding these kids back for long.

"I'm very excited now that we have the opportunity to play on this field, so that we can practice more sports and things."
