BALTIMORE - UPDATE: Baltimore City fire investigators now confirm a second person died in an overnight fire on Montebello Terrace.
Crews were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The fire was so intense that crews had to evacuate. They requested a second alarm and when more units arrived, they went back into the home.
During their search, they found one victim. Early Thursday morning, they announced a second person had also died in the fire. Those victims have now been identified as 52-year old Andrew Bryant and 56-year old Scott Wiles.
In all, seven adults, including a pregnant woman lived in the house. The other five victims escaped without any life-threatening injuries.
Fire investigators and police arson detectives are now trying to figure out how the fire started and see if the home had any working smoke alarms. They also have now confirmed reports that a city police officer rescued one person from the basement of the home.
Tragically, one of the victims had escaped from the burning home, but perished when he went back inside to try to save his two dogs.
