BALTIMORE - Papa Ed Prutzer Sr. is pretty proud of his son. He will be in the highest life guard chair of all this Saturday to watch his son take a chilly dip in his honor.

Ed Jr. has been running the Rusty Scupper for 20 years, but this Saturday he will be running straight into the bay for his Dad.

It's funny that he will be swimming around in the morning with feature meals he'll be serving that night.

This is Restaurant week, but it has also been the toughest week in Ed's life. His Dad died.

"My Dad was ill and I have always known that the Special Olympics was something he believed in," said Ed Jr.

One night instead of writing menus he wrote his Dad a letter, and told him he was taking the plunge. "I will run in and out and that's all in the spirit of participation and that's something he believed in," he said.

It was the final talk between a father and his son.

So Ed's favorite table for two, is now missing a setting, but Ed will never forget what his father taught him over dinner.

Ed's Dad never made it into the Scupper, 25 years of illness robbed him of the treat, but on Saturday, Ed will carry the spirit of his Dad into the water with him.

So far, Ed is of has raised $2,500 for the Special Olympics.
