The police trainee who was shot in the head last week is doing better this morning.

He has been upgraded from grave to serious condition.

In the meantime, later today we expect to hear from Police Commissioner Anthony Batts.

He will tell us what is going to happen to the city training academy.

Major Joseph Smith with internal affairs is now in charge.

On Monday, Batts named him the department's Director of Education and Training

Limited training is set to resume this week, but firearms drills were moved to the end of the session.
