Whenever temperatures really start to soar, the City of Baltimore calls a Code Red heat emergency. When a Code Red day is declared, the city activates a series of cooling centers designed to give residents shelter from the blistering heat.
These centers are located throughout the city at community action centers and senior centers, and keep varied hours on weekdays and weekends. For complete details on the cooling centers, call 311 before you leave the house, or click here for a list of cooling centers and their hours.
