BALTIMORE (WMAR) - A woman is in serious but stable condition after a pit bull Thursday.

A fire department worker was in the area of the 1500 block of East Pratt Street when he noticed a woman who appeared to be having a seizure. As the worker got closer, he realized that the woman was actually being mauled by a pit bull.

The worker flagged down a police officer in the area who went to the scene and shot the dog, killing it.

The woman is said to have significant injuries to the abdominal area. Officials say she is in serious but stable condition.
