BALTIMORE - The monthslong search for a missing North Carolina teenager may have ended tragically with the discovery of her body in a Maryland river, but those who searched for Phylicia Barnes want to preserve the network they built up and draw more awareness for all missing persons cases.
The 16-year-old from Monroe, N.C., disappeared six months ago. After her body was found in April, Barnes' death was ruled a homicide, but no one has been charged.
Don Rondeau, a homeland security expert involved in the search, says he submitted a case study to the attorney general's office and plans a video featuring missing children from across Maryland.
Local Guardian Angels chapter Commander Marcus Dent says they are planning a march this summer to call attention to all missing persons cases.
