A Baltimore teacher is getting a classroom makeover.
Ms. Yovanni Markland is the winner of the Baltimore Teachers Union Extreme Classroom/Library Makeover contest. She teaches Spanish and dance at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
Each contestant had to submit a 300-500 word essay and pictures of the classroom he or she wanted to have redesigned.
Ms. Markland will meet with a design team and decide what changes she would like in her classroom. Construction will take place over the summer and should be completed by the beginning of the new school year.
The contest was created by the Baltimore Teachers Union, its parent organization and the American Federation of Teachers.
