BALTIMORE (WMAR) - The sun sets on a one of a kind, Baltimore gem. At the age of 82, the fiery Hall of Famer and former Orioles manager Earl Weaver is dead but will never be forgotten .
Baltimore remembers.
The 1,480 games won – we remember.
Baltimore remembers how Weaver defended the team. We remember the passion and the heated arguments with the umpires – even kicking up dirt if he had to.
Baltimore remembers you Manager Weaver and will never be able to erase the memories.
Charm City remembers the number four he wore so proudly on his chest, never hanging up the jersey to dash to another team.
We remember when he flew our birds to a World Series win in 1970.
The O’s would never be the same.
Do you remember Weaver’s induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1996?
Baltimore can never forget because his statue towers over the fans that flood into Camden Yards.
When giving a speech during the June 2012 statue unveiling, Weaver said “...each time I came back (to Baltimore) I was amazed how fans remembered the past. ”
How could we forget?
