BALTIMORE - On Thursday, Baltimore City is celebrating America Recycles Day with the Green Day Challenge.

The Department of Public Works is asking people to eliminate the majority of their daily waste.

Some suggestions they have are to bring lunch in a reusable bag, organize a carpool, recycle and get bills sent online, not in the mail.

Officials say the average American produces 4.6 pounds of trash a day.
