BALTIMORE - Ray Lewis and Michael Phelps call Baltimore home, but apparently even they can't boost the cities manliness.

According to an annual study by Mars Chocolate North America, Charm City is the 35th most manly city in the U.S., dropping seven spots from 28th last year.

That's out of a list of 50.

Mars said its study compiles manly city data such as the number of home improvement stores, and steak houses.

"Girly" factors, like a high concentration of nail salons and shopping boutiques can bump cities down.

Here are the top five manliest cities:

  1. Oklahoma City, Okla.
  2. Columbia, South Carolina.
  3. Memphis, Tenn.
  4. Nashville, Tenn.
  5. Birmingham, Ala.

San Diego is the least manly city on the list.
