BALTIMORE (WMAR) - Archbishop Lori has announced the first capital campaign in 15 years with a goal of reaching $100 million.
With song and celebration, Archbishop Lori announced today that the Archdiocese of Baltimore's capital campaign to raise $100 million, is right on track.
The Embracing Our Mission - Shaping Our Future campaign is about one-third of the way though whith a third of the parishes participating and has already raised $64 million.
"Some of that's due to some large gifts, but much of it are the wonderful pledges of parishioners, parishioners who are giving at or above their means. In this economic climate, when I said I was grateful, I really mean it," said Archbishop William Lori. "I'm very inspired by what I'm seeing happening. And I'm very confident we're gonna really surpass our goal."
Half of the funds raised will go to schools, other money is dedicated to charitable outreach programs, vocations, care for retired priests and the preservation of the Basilica and Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.
This is the first capital campaign for the Baltimore Archdiocese in 15 years.
