GLEN BURNIE, Md. - A viewing is being held for one of the victims of the Navy Yard Shooting.
The viewing for security guard Richard Michael Ridgell is being held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie. A funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at The Church at Severn Run.
The 52-year-old Ridgell was one of 12 people killed by gunman Aaron Alexis during a shooting rampage on Sept. 16. Ridgell was a former Maryland State Police trooper and worked for the state police from 1983 to 2000. He was also a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and served as a drummer in the all-volunteer Baltimore Colts Marching Band before the Ravens era.
Ridgell is survived by daughters Megan and Madison Ridgell, his wife,Tracey Lyons Ridgell, of Westminster; daughter Heather Ridgell Hunt and husband Justin, of Martinsburg, W Va.; her mother, Linda Feather Grove, of Middletown; his parents, Shirley and Dick Ridgell, and grandmother, Juanita Ware, of Lewes, Del; and brother, Todd Ridgell, of Brooklyn Park.
