Maryland transit officials say an unattended bag temporarily halted rail service to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The Maryland Transit Administration says train service was suspended around 6 a.m. Tuesday and resumed by 7 a.m. after officers determined the package did not pose a threat to passengers. MTA spokesman Terry Owens told The Baltimore Sun that two trains were affected.

The BWI train station serves passengers on Maryland's MARC line and Amtrak's Northeast Corridor route. The suspension affected trains on the MARC Penn line.
