State public works board to consider new health lab

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Maryland Board of Public Works is scheduled to consider approving bonds needed to build a new public health laboratory in Baltimore.
The board, which consists of Gov. Martin O'Malley, Comptroller Peter Franchot and Treasurer Nancy Kopp , meets Wednesday in Annapolis.
The panel is taking up a lease that will facilitate the sale of tax-exempt bonds for the lab.
The board also will consider creating three new positions for the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange. The exchange is a marketplace, regulated by state government, that would provide
insurance to the uninsured.
