PASADENA, Md. - A rabid raccoon was discovered Friday near Downs Park in Pasadena, according to the Anne Arundel County Department of Health.
County officials said anyone who had contact with a raccoon should call the Department of Health at 410-222-7256, on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 443-481-3140 after business hours. Anyone whose pet was bitten or scratched by a raccoon should call County Animal Control at 410-222-8900.
The presence of rabid animals in Anne Arundel County has been prevalent this year. So far, there have been 31 confirmed cases of animal rabies reported – 10 bats, 20 raccoons and one groundhog this year.
This discovery in Pasadena came eight days after a rabid raccoon was found in Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis.
