EDGEWATER, Md. (WMAR) - Anne Arundel County Police have arrested and charged a 12-year-old boy after they say he brought a loaded BB gun and an airsoft pistol to school Thursday.

At about 12 p.m. Thursday, a School Resource Officer responded to Central Middle School in Edgewater for a report of a student with possible weapons.

The initial information suggests that a student threatened at least two other students and warned them not to report that he had the weapons.

"It's a very serious issue," said Bob Mosier with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. "We take these things very seriously. Certainly regrettable when things like this occur, but in this case, good to know that we have courageous students that did what they should have done -- alerted a responsible adult immediately.

That student was arrested and charged as a juvenile with disorderly conduct and threatening a student on school property.

School officials say no one was injured.
