DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. (WMAR) - Anne Arundel County Police have confirmed that one of the drivers in a double fatal head-on crash was under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Stephanie Banchero, 26, was at fault in the April 9 crash at the intersection of Davidsonville Road and Rossback Road. That crash not only killed her, but 70-year-old Mary Corkill as well.
Police spokesperson Justin Mulcahy says the Chief Medical Examiner found the alcohol in Banchero's system to be above the legal limit.
In April, Banchero was driving on Davidsonville Road when she drifted off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected to get back on the road. The overcorrection caused the car to cross over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic where she hit Corkill.
