ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) - Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold has released his recommended FY 2013 operating and capital budget.
The recommended budget calls for the elimination of furloughs and funds for Severna Park High School.
The budget also calls for additional police officers and no layoffs to the fire departments, instead additional staffing is budgeted at two stations.
The $1.2 billion operating budget and $1 billion capital budget must be approved by May 30. The County Council will hold public hearings to discuss the budget for the next several weeks.
"This balanced budget is fiscally responsible and makes strategic targeted investments to enhance our quality of life," County Executive Leopold said.
