GLEN BURNIE, Md. - A Hampstead man is dead after he was rear ended in a three car crash in Anne Arundel County Friday afternoon.
Maryland State Police said that Stephen T. Patterson, 49, died when his Honda Accord was rear ended by a Ford F-250 driven by Daniel Morton Friday around 4:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation found that Morton did not slow down for traffic in the southbound lanes of I-97 near the Route 50 spur and rear ended Patterson, who in turn hit the car in front of him.
Patterson was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The southbound lanes of I-97 were shut down for three hours for the crash investigation but have since been reopened.
