ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
Some of your kids may already be waking up for school this morning, and some of you may think it's just too early.
On Thursday people living in Anne Arundel County are delivering a petition to the superintendent of schools, hoping for a later start time.
Schools in the county start at 7:17, the earliest time in Maryland and among the earliest nationwide.
Parents want school to start no earlier than 8 am. Both health and educational experts say research shows starting school that early isn't good for adolescents mental and physical well-being.
