EDGEWATER, Md. -
Patrick Feeks’ family is grieving after the navy seal from Edgewater died last week when his helicopter crashed in Afghanistan.
He joined the navy in 2006, and had served with his seal unit for the past four years.
Five other members of his team died when the Black Hawk Helicopter went down, and the Taliban is claiming responsibility for shooting it down.
Feeks graduated from South River High School in 2002. His father, Thomas, says he watched his son develop skills at South River that he would later use serving his country.
Thomas says Patrick’s determination started early in life. “At 3-years-old on Easter Sunday, he came home and said dad, I want to try that bike without training wheels” Thomas says. “His mom came out to look for him and he was gone riding away on his own.”
Patrick will be buried at Arlington Cemetery.
He leaves behind his parents, a sister, and his wife.
