LOTHIAN, Md. -
A 70-year-old woman is in critical condition after her SUV flipped over and slammed into a tree Friday afternoon.
Police said Audrey Gray of Edgewater was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox west on Bayard Road in Lothian around 2:30 p.m. when she lost control of the SUV. The car drove up an embankment, hit a tree and rolled over onto its roof before coming to a stop.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedics treated Gray at the scene before she was flown by helicopter to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where she remains in critical condition.
Crash Investigators from the Traffic Safety Section are investigating. Police said speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
