GAMBRILLS, Md. -
A trip to a Gambrills Royal Farm Store ended in tragedy for two people Sunday afternoon.
Police said around 1:40 p.m. officers responded to car crash at Rt. 3 near Carver Road. When officers arrived they found a car and motorcycle blocking the entrance to the Royal Farm Store.
The initial investigation found that 19-year-old Elizabeth Meyers was trying to cross Rt. 3 to enter the Royal Farm store parking lot when her Chevrolet Cobalt collided with a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle traveling in the left lane. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Jonathon Roberts, 30, was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he later died.
Meyers had only minor injuries.Police said it does not appear speed or alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
