ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
State Sen. Ulysses Currie is appearing before the Maryland General Assembly's ethics panel, which is considering the senator's failure to disclose work for a grocery store chain.
The Prince George's County Democrat appeared Monday in Annapolis before the Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics.
Currie went before the panel in a closed-door meeting with retired Maryland Court of Appeals Judge Joseph F. Murphy Jr., who has agreed to be Currie's counsel before the panel. Joseph Evans, Currie's lawyer in the federal bribery case last year in which the senator was acquitted of all charges, also appeared with Currie before the panel.
The panel is examining more than $245,000 in payments Currie received from a grocery store chain while he was senator, money he did not disclose in required state disclosure forms.
