Annapolis, MD - Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold is asking the public to join him in paying tribute to the men and women who lost their lives 11 years ago when the Twin Towers collapsed in New York.
A 9/11 memorial to honor public safety personnel, victims and troops who have lost their lives on the anniversary of the attacks will take place in Millersville.
He is encouraging the public to take a moment to reflect and participate in a day of service.
At 8:50, the County Executive will join public safety personnel at the 9-11 Memorial, located at Police and Fire Department Headquarters in Millersville, for a moment of silence.
There will also be a ceremony on Saturday, September 8, 2012, starting at 8:30 a.m., at the World War II Memorial in Annapolis.
A shoreline cleanup event at Jonas Green Park, located at the foot of the Naval Academy Bridge will take place after Saturday's ceremony.
