ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) -

The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 61-year-old ship captain off of a tanker ship that was anchored off Annapolis Tuesday.

The captain aboard the Cape Althea, a 957-foot tanker, contacted Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders at about 5:00 p.m., reporting that he had a 104-degree fever.

A 45-foot response boat from Station Annapolis escorted an Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue boat to conduct the medevac and transport the captain to Sandy Point.

"Since the Cape Althea was at achor and the crew from Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue has an advanced capability to aid medically, we asked them to assist," said Chief Petty Officer Eddie McCrae, Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Command Center supervisor.
