GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WMAR) -

Four Correctional Officers and one civilian were injured Tuesday evening in an highway crash.

Maryland State Police say the crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Southbound 295, just south of I-895.

While specifics weren't immediately available, police say, the crash involved three vehicles.

One driver was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, their condition was not immediately known.

The officers were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The four officers are members of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Home Detention Unit.

While the cause of the crash is still under investigation, officials believe that the officers' vehicles were both rear-ended.

The roadway has since reopened.
