LINTHICUM, Md. (WMAR) -

The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is warning motorists that a section of the Baltimore -Washington Parkway (295) and West Nursery Road will be closed near BWI during the last two weekends in October.

The closures are critical for SHA to replace the two West Nursery Road bridges over 295.

Crews building the bridges will be in the median and will demolish and replace the bridge decks during the closures.

On Fridays October 19 and 26, one lane of 295 will be closed in each direction and then at 11:00 pm, all lanes will be closed in both direction and will remain closed until about 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

On Saturdays October 20 and 27, one lane of 295 will be closed in each direction and beginning at 11:00 p.m., all lanes of will be closed and remain closed until 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

Crews will detour traffic along a single lane using the ramps from West Nursery Road, however, the volume of traffic normally using 295 will be funneled to one lane so there will be significant delays.

In addition to the 295 closures, West Nursery Road will also close to traffic. On Friday October 19 and October 26, at 10:00 p.m. all lanes of West Nursery Road will be closed and remain closed until 8:00 a.m. Sunday.

Travelers passing through the area are encouraged to use an alternate route.
