GAMBRILLS, Md. - UPDATE (10:13 p.m.) | Investigators believe a car traveling "at a high rate of speed" rear-ended another vehicle that set off a deadly chain reaction, seven-vehicle crash in Grambrills, Md, according to Anne Arundel County Police Department Lt. T.J. Smith.
The three people killed in the crash were all in one vehicle, Smith added.
Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The third was pronounced dead at a nearby trauma center.

UPDATE (9:10 p.m.) | Three people were pronounced dead at the scene of a 5-car accident in Anne Arundel County Tuesday, police have confirmed.
The identities of the victims will not be released until next-of-kin is notified.
Six passengers involved in the accident were transported to nearby hospitals. Four people were sent to Baltimore-Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. A 38-year-old man was flown to Shock Trauma in critical condition. An 8-year-old girl was flown to Johns Hopkins Pediatric with life-threatening injuries.
Route 3 southbound will remain closed for a further several hours.
UPDATE (8:02 p.m.) | Anne Arundel County police have confirmed that several people have died as a result of a multi-vehicle crash near Route 3 south at Route 32 in Gambrills, Md.
Chief of Police Kevin Davis is on the scene of the accident.
Police are still in the early stages of the investigation.
The Route 3 South will remain closed for "sometime," according to an update from Davis's official Twitter account.

ORIGINAL | At least two people are in critical condition following an accident in Millersville, according to an Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue spokesman.
Four people are trapped in one of the cars involved in the crash.
Anne Arundel County emergency medical service responders are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Route 3 South past Route 32 Tuesday afternoon.
It has been determined by first-responders that two of the people trapped are in critical condition and will need to be flown out via Medevac helicopter.
Route 3 South is closed. It is unknown when it will be re-opened.
It is unknown at this time if there are injuries to passengers in the other cars involved.
