Propane tanker crash causes evacuation of parts of Port Deposit

PORT DEPOSIT, Md. - Several groups of Port Deposit residents were been given an evacuation order because of a cleanup from a propane tanker crash . Now, the town is closed until further notice.
Residents that live along Rowland Drive, High Street, and on Main Street from Vanort Drive to 43 Main Street were first to receive the evacuation order.
The town is expected to be closed for about about eight hours, but residents should expect it to last up til 24 hours.
Residents had the option to go to Bainbridge Elementary School for shelter. Residents in need of assistance should call Town Hall at 410-378-2121 or go to the Town Hall.
About the crash
Police say at about 1:00 p.m. a tractor trailer carrying 9,000 gallons of propane missed it's turn onto I-95 and continued driving on Center Street into the town of Port Deposit. As the truck was coming down a steep incline the driver reported he lost the control of his brakes.
