Romney's camp fires back after Obama makes comment to Rolling Stone magazine

There's no shortage of heated exchanges on the campaign trail and it may have just gone up another notch after a comment President Obama following an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.

According to CNN, the magazine's editor passed along a message from Obama's daughter to him, which said "You can do it", referring to his re-election bid.

The president responded by saying, "You know, kids have good instincts.  They look at the other guy and say, 'Well that's a bull (expletive), I can tell," referring to his opponent Mitt Romney.

Romney's campaign fired back, releasing a statement that said, "President Obama is rattled and on the defensive.  He's running on empty and has nothing left but attacks and insults.  It's unfortunate he has to close the final days of the campaign this way."

David Axelrod, top advisor for Obama's campaign, tried to explain what the President meant during an interview.  "I think he was referring to the practice of sliding around and trying to change positions," Axelrod said.

The presidential historian who interviewed Obama tells CNN that this moment shows there is no mutual respect between the candidates in this election.
