Ocean City restaurant fire closes Route 50

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Route 50 eastbound is reopened late Friday in West Ocean City after a fire at Waterman's Seafood Company briefly closed the roadway.

A spokesperson for OCFD says the initial calls for the fire on the 12000 block of Ocean Gateway came just before 7 p.m. Friday night.  As of about 8:30 p.m. the fire was still not under control.

According to the OCFD, multiple fire companies were on the scene including Berlin Fire Company, Showell Volunteer Fire Department, Bishopville Fire Department and Ocean Pines Fire Department.

Waterman's Seafood Company was open when the fire started, everyone was safely evacuated from the building.  No injuries were reported.
