SANFORD, Fla. - Attorneys for George Zimmerman, who says he shot Florida teen Trayvon Martin in self defense, say they've lost contact with their client. As a result, they say they no longer represent him.
Wednesday at 1pm Trayvon Martin's parents and their attorney will hold a news conference in the district at the NAN's annual convention.
Reverend Al Sharpton is also expected to attend.
Also, the special prosecutor in the George Zimmerman case, Angela Corey, says she will release new information within 72 hours on the controversial shooting.
It's an announcement that came as Zimmerman’s attorneys made the bombshell statement that they were resigning.
Zimmerman’s attorneys quit, saying their client has not been returning their calls and is speaking to people against their advice.
The attorneys say they last heard from Zimmerman on Sunday.
They believe he may have left Florida, but would only say he's in the United States.
The Martin family believes Zimmerman is a flight risk if authorities decide to charge him.
“That concerns us a great deal as parents that they don’t know where he is,” said Sybrina Fulton. “They should be close to him and in close contact with him and able to have communication. So it does bother us to know that they don’t know where he is.”
Zimmerman's former legal team says he spoke with fox news' Sean Hannity and even called the special prosecutors office.
Something they strongly advised against.
