Facebook will charge to "promote" user posts

Would you pay $7 to make sure your friends can view your Facebook status updates?
The new 'Promote' feature will bump your posts to the top of the newsfeeds. Right now, only a small amount of Facebook's 166 million users are able to take part in the experiment.
Facebook has not yet said whether this will become a permanent feature on the site.
