So, what happens to those turkeys that get the presidential pardon?

Once the cameras stop rolling, their first stop is the home of the nation's first president.

There is a specially prepared pen in Mount Vernon, Virginia, George Washington's historic estate.

For six weeks, the lucky bird gets to take part in a holiday festival.

Then it's off to retirement.

The lucky birds do not have worry about ending up on anyone Thanksgiving plate.

This year, Facebook users got to pick the bird that would be the National Thanksgiving Turkey.

Cobbler was declared the winner of that poll.
