Casey Anthony verdict sparks overwhelming reaction

CLEVELAND - As soon as the Casey Anthony verdict was read, the reaction was overwhelming and immediate.

Bystanders outside the courthouse started chanting, “guilty,” and celebrities used Twitter to react to the news. Social media outlets were buzzing wtih the news, and within minutes of the verdict, several terms related to the trial—including Casey Anthony, verdict, and Caylee—were all trending on Twitter.

Many celebrities weighed in on the verdict, some expressing frustration with the outcom:

Sharon Osbourne ( @MrsSOsbourne ): “Casey Anthony not guilty??.....it’s a disgrace. She’ll probably get her own reality show now.”

Roseanne Barr ( @TheRealRoseanne ): “idiots must never again be allowed on juries--smart people must begin to serve their country before idiots kill us all!”

Kim Kardashian ( @KimKardashian ): “WHAT!!!!???!!!! CASEY ANTHONY FOUND NOT GUILTY!!!! I am speechless!!!”

The tweets from Kim and her sister Khloe were met with negative reaction, as their father Robert was on the defense team for O.J. Simpson in the murder trial against Nicole Brown Simpson. Kim responded by tweeting, "its nuts people think just bc I was close to the OJ trial I can't have my own opinion on the Casey Anthony case?"
