A Florida community is in mourning.  A 23 month old boy is dead, after the family's TV fell on top of him.

Police in Port St. Lucie say a 27 inch television was knocked off of a dresser after 23 month old Shawn Brown tried to climb on the dresser.  This happened Saturday.  His older brother saw it happen, and tried to help but the TV was too heavy.

The police report states that the father heard the crash of the TV and ran in to help.  He lifted the TV off the child while his mother picked him up and carried him to their car.  He died about an hour later at the hospital.

According to the CPSC a child is killed once every two weeks from furniture hazards.
