NEW YORK - NBC Today Show co-host, Ann Curry, will step down from the show Thursday after only one year at the position.

She confirmed the rumors with USA Today on Wednesday.

Curry will still be a seen on NBC. She will be cover both national and international stories for NBC Nightly News, Dateline, Rock Center, and Today.

NBC executives say Curry will fill in as anchor on Nightly News.

Multiple news outlets had reported that Curry lacked chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer. Curry brushed off the notion saying they the two had great chemistry for the past 14 years.

"You know, Matt and I have had great on-air chemistry for 14 years, been part of the No. 1 winning team for a history-making number of years," she told USA Today.

Curry denied that she will be paid $10 million or $20 million a year.

The ratings war between Today and ABC's Good Morning America seemed to add more speculation to Curry's departure. Good Morning America broke NBC's 16-year winning streak in April and has won three other weeks since breaking the streak.

( USA Today contributed to much of this report.)
