For the first time ever, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is revealing which foods are the biggest culprits when it comes to food-borne illness.
If you’re a salad lover, make sure you wash your greens because salad staples like spinach, kale and lettuce topped the list.
They are responsible for 46% of food-borne infections.
While meat and poultry accounted for fewer illnesses, food-borne disease outbreaks from this type of food accounted for 29% of deaths.
The list is based on food-related sickness from 1998-2008.
