SAN BERNARDINO, California - Problems with drugs and alcohol had been a big part of Rodney King's life.
And now a coroner's report has concluded that substance abuse likely played a role in his death in June.
The report says King had been drinking and was on drugs when he plunged into his swimming pool and accidentally drowned.
The report confirms a previous police conclusion that King died by accident -- and authorities in Rialto, California are now declaring the case closed.
King's 1991 videotaped beating by white Los Angeles police officers lead to riots when the officers were acquitted.
Since then he has had problems with substance abuse.
