LOS ANGELES - A new AP-Petside.com poll shows that pet owners across the country will spend an average $46 on their animals this holiday season, up $5 from last year.
About half of those polled plan to buy gifts for their pets. Toys and treats top the list. The poll shows two-thirds of pets who get gifts will receive toys, almost half will get food or treats, 8 percent bedding and 6 percent clothing.
Major pet retailers have big plans for Black Friday and Cyber Monday too. Income does matter. Those making $50,000 or more say they plan to spend an average $57 on their pets. Those making under $50,000 say it will be $29.
