Pay-TV may become a thing of the past.
According to research firm The Diffusion Group (TDG), Netflix customers are now twice as likely as they were a year ago to cut their use of Pay-TV services.
In the study, researchers found Netflix streamers who expected to downgrade their pay-TV service increased from 16 percent in 2010 to 32 percent in 2011.
The economy could also play a role in the downgrade.
In the surveys conducted, about half of the Netflix streamers who say they are likely to downgrade their pay-TV service soon site “cost of service” and “the need to save money” as the primary reason.
In the same surveys only 34 percent of consumers cited online video (primarily Netflix) as the reason.
