HARTFORD, Conn. -

State police say an 83-year-old man was injured after he fell off an elevated highway in Hartford while helping another driver after an accident.

Troopers say Richard Herron of Elkton, Md., was driving eastbound on Interstate 84 at about 3 a.m. Monday when he came upon the scene of a rollover crash.

Authorities say Herron suffered an unknown medical emergency and fell off the highway onto a road below. He was brought to Hartford Hospital. His condition hasn't been released.

The other driver, 45-year-old Sheila Jenkins of Hartford, is being treated at a hospital for lacerations and arm pain. State police say she lost control of her SUV while trying to change lanes on a curve.
